The Committee for Children
Case Study
The Committee for Children is a Seattle-based nonprofit that creates research-based social-emotional learning materials.
The organization asked Josh Daniel/Content Inventions to create, write, direct and produce a series of web videos to help parents talk with their kids about sexual abuse, for a campaign and a curriculum for nationwide distribution. Josh was chosen due to his background in the creation of award-winning parenting content and success in short-form web video series.
The Process: We started development by consulting with education and child development experts on core content and goals, and a critical review of previous content and the competitive landscape. Through brainstorming and collaboration, we developed a premise — cartoon style videos and animations– and the goals and narrative arc for each one. We entered a process of script development, casting, preproduction, shooting, and edited — with critical client reviews at each stage. The result: a compelling series, using drama and humor, to help parents talk about this awkward topic, and help their kids protect themselves.
