Created video series to help parents prevent sexual abuse

Case Study

The Committee for Children is a Seattle-based nonprofit that creates research-based social-emotional learning materials.

The organization asked Josh Daniel/Content Inventions to create, write, direct and produce a series of web videos to help parents talk with their kids about sexual abuse, for a campaign and a curriculum for nationwide distribution. Josh was chosen due to his background in the creation of award-winning parenting content and success in short-form web video series.

The Process: We started development by consulting with education and child development experts on core content and goals, and a critical review of previous content and the competitive landscape. Through brainstorming and collaboration, we developed a premise — cartoon style videos and animations– and the goals and narrative arc for each one. We entered a process of script development, casting, preproduction, shooting, and edited — with critical client reviews at each stage. The result: a compelling series, using drama and humor, to help parents talk about this awkward topic, and help their kids protect themselves.

Josh was terrific to work with on our ambitious project. He did endless research to understand the nuances of our message and distilled that into everyday language and compelling visuals to engage families. He remained focused on our timeline and budget, and took up our project with creative passion and complete dedication. We found him to be a truly outstanding producer for our project.
